Game engine is apparently OpenGL based but apparently w/ Bethesda's current attitude to Mac/Linux we won't be seeing a native port anytime soon. This makes me feel real good about the new Doom. I do not have a Windows partition to test in Windows but I would not be surprised if Linux is at near-parity. Playing on max settings with a GTX 770 on a 1080p display and it runs smooth as butter. Finally from 'Miscellaneous' I can launch Steam externally to download and play Wolfenstein. Then to 'Install components' and installed Steam.
Game will not work with a 32 bit virtual drive. Using PlayOnLinux, went straight to 'Configure' and created a new 64 bit virtual drive with Wine version 1.7.22. Nvidia 340.24 drivers (very ied with 6 month old drivers and it was horrendous - I hear it's the same issue if you play in Windows). Your mileage my vary but these are the steps I took: Just playing this game for the first time today and although I've only had 2 hours at it it's shaping up to be IMO the best single player FPS experience for pure corridor-shooting, set piece, gun-play aficionados since S.T.A.L.K.E.R. We know spam when we see it and will delete it. This means things like repetitious posting of similar content, low-effort posts/memes and misleading/exaggerated titles on link posts. What exactly did you do, and how, and with what version of what? How have you tried to troubleshoot the problem? Vague, low-effort tech-support requests may get removed. Include relevant details like logs, terminal output, system information. Tech-support requests should be useful to others: those who might run into the same problem as well as those who might be able to help. It is not (primarily) a tech-support forum. r/Linux_Gaming is for informative and interesting gaming content, news and discussions.
